give any religion state power and it is dangerous. I think there is a discourse that plays down the religious motivations behind Bush invading Iraq. The ideology of some of the war mongers is heavily influenced by Christianity. The Christian right in America particularly in its Christian reconstructionist brand is equally as theocratic fascist as the Islamists.

I don't want to live in Saudi Arabia but I would want somewhere more tolerant than Texas.

I think all religion is lunacy, but I must concede that Muslims are more likely than Christians to behead me for saying that. The Catholic church tried to control our lives in Ireland, but it's been centuries since they were willing to kill heretics like you, me and Marty. I'm not saying Christians are perfect or even especially tolerant, but I think I might prefer living in Texas than in Saudi Arabia.

George Carlin is absolutely brilliant. My wife put me onto him. He is a great social commentator as well as a comedian. I wrote an obituary on the Quill when he died and it is linked to one of his takes on religion.
