Stephen.....Good post enjoyable but at a quick glance at the comments wow what was that Stephen Labour would not prioritise reunification unlike Sinn Fein, what planet is you on boy, dont see Labour ruling a part of Ireland with the might of british powers, maybe I am missing something but what has implementing british rule got to do with the unification of Ireland please let me know ?????

There is no left wing politics. All that died with the miners and house ownership a long long time ago. I do get the feeling that 'the lefties' that still exist on the periphery seem to maintain the capacity for factionalising and nit-picking. Dear oh dear.
Also, wonderfulforyourage-I believe SF wouldn't even blink at the prospect of being left wing [supposedly] South of the border and right wing unionist North of it. It's what they do-do well, ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN. It hasn't worked though and over the coming years their 'electoral' strategy will burry itself in the sandbank it's now stuck on.

i agree they should work closer together on areas they agree on but calling on them to merge, labour would not prioritise reunification to the same degree SF do. labour have been avoiding and kicking for touch moves with in the lsbour movement to organise the party in NI, the only logic reson because as you say, they feel the north is settled to get over involved could be to open a can of worms. amalgimating with sf they would have to open it.

my own preference is that no one progessive group on there own has a hope in hell of ever becomeing a single mass movement. the most logical view imo is diferences while respected should muturely refrain themselfs from over stateing there importance to the point of making comonality irellivent. a structure needs to be developed where groups can opt in or out with out fear or favour depending on there preference, share resources and persue proper issue bassed campaigns as opposed to campaigns decending in to stuidity because different groups are trying to get one up on each other. if the farish left can get it's act together then it becomes a credible option for labour to work with as opposed to FG.

I couldn't read your whole article. Sinn Fein should go merge with Youth Defense, if they want political bedfellows.
Labour should remember where they came from. Labor is, just as much as SF in limbo. People are looking for real left wing politics.
