Pat Ramsey is certainly putting in the mileage on the prison issue here,much to his credit and shame on those who profess to be republican.Liam Campbell and the other republican pows would be almost forgotten if not for a few good people like Jim and Helen highlighting their plight and the TPQ publishing these concerns,its no wonder the brits wish to bring in legislation curbing what can be said on the net..

Ramsey secures access to prisons for Oireachtas members
SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has revealed that after intensive discussions with the Department of Justice, members of the Oireachtas now have the same rights to access prisoners as any other elected representatives on the island, after he secured the amending of Prison Standing Orders.

Mon 16th April
Mr Ramsey said:

“I am delighted that after several months of work, my fellow public representatives, both in the Dáil and the Seánad can now visit prisoners in the North’s prisons without the need for a domestic visit, alongside counterparts in the Assembly and Westminster.

“This is a major step change in the administration of prisons here, and is important in the context of the experience some TD’s in particular have engaging with prisoners, in light of the on-going protest at Maghaberry Prison.

“I have successfully lobbied to have Standing Order 5.7.1 changed and indeed, a number of TDs have already scheduled visits to prisons which I hope will continue to progress the reform of the prison service and could prove crucial in the cases of Marian Price and Gerry McGeough in particular."

I would encourage anyone in the New York City area to attend a benefit for Marian Price on Sunday, April 22nd at Rocky Sullivan's, 34 Van Dyke Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn. I agree with Eamonn here all credit to Pat Ramsey for getting involved in Marian,s case from an early start,the qsf mla,s who have now flagged up their concern for Marians plight must also be welcomed,even though many will view it with a cynical eye,after all qsf are part keyholders of the justice ministry if qsf demanded as a party Marians immediate release you can be sure that the right moves would be made,the leadership and to many members of that party have to short memories and have become to complacent sitting at the big boys table ,passing the buck onto sos Patterson,Marians internment like the cuts to health, social welfare etc are being implemented for the brits by the men and women who in the last week praised Pearse,Connolly and the republicans of 1916 and beyond,like their masters these people will as we know say /do anything to hang on to power,even if it means seeing ex comrades interned,and this is where it all began for a lot of people,do we now see the start of this disgusting practice all over again only this time Martyboy and qsf will give the brits the political cover thet lacked in the 70,s
