Just on a point of accuracy,
Governor Walker is primarily commemorated by the Apprentice Boys Of Derry. Although he was later killed at the Battle Of The Boyne he is not officially commemorated by the Orange Order. Brian appears to have depicted his character wearing a Royal Black Perceptory collarette, distinct differences but minor detail all the same.
As I recall, in an earler discussion I touched on the destruction of Walkers Pillar. You described it as the actions of a liberated people. The latest vandalism was captured on cctv, and they were clearly inebriated people with their 'liberation' being from sobriety as opposed to the yoke of British rule.
Perhaps when your schadenfreude has receded you might consider placing your earlier sentiment upon a plaque,".. it can be no capitulation of civil liberties,when you allow your neighbours theirs."

Just wish there had of been some divine intervention in Derry yesterday when Gilmore was back surveying the 'Maiden City'
