The fire in the belly of Glover was ignited by Greenslade having earlier attacked his own Guardian colleague Henry McDonald - who, in the eyes of Geeenslade, had erred grievously by making an inaccurate assertion in a news report on a killing in Northern Ireland. McDonald rushed his fences and wrongly claimed that the killing of a West Belfast man had been the work of ‘republican paramilitaries’ from the dissident camp.

I've never hidden the fact that I've never been involved in the PRM or any part of Irish republicanism (it's how my my life panned out), I was getting drunk in corn market during the 80's and going to rock'n'roll clubs...But the British Goverment in the 1950's actually censored a song.

In 1959 Johnny Horton recorded The battle of New Orleans but because it tells how the British lost the War of Independance they decided it wasn't allowed of the airways and Johnny Horton had to re-word the song for the British charts to make it sound that the Brits didn't lose.. The British version..Just listen to the words..

While Henry mcDonald got his facts wrong (wasn't intentional)..The same can't be said for the British..They changed the words of a song on purpose..

For some reason your comment went to the spam cart. My argument is that neither Greenslade nor Glover should be gagged. Greenslade himself made that point in his 2006 piece.

Glover was indeed only expressing his views.

The reference to Leveson was to situate the piece in the context of the print media already being in the public eye

Anthony if Glover was censored/gagged for his piece on Greenslade then surely Greenslade should have been gagged/censored for his piece on McDonald (unless I didn't understand your piece)..

On the small point of Leveson and hacking. I'd like to try to clear something up..They aren't hackers (I know you didn't say they were).
