How orchestrated from on top it was is a moot point. It was certainly being pushed on the ground. I experienced it myself at the funeral. There are grounds for believing that the whole intervention by Sinn Fein helped shape a discourse whereby it could be said that 'Dark made his peace with Gerry.' However, it is my hardly isolated belief that the events and ambience at the funeral punctured much of that discourse. It would be interesting if Barry were to comment on how he arrived at the conclusion that Brendan had made peace.
