WyseMan, old habits die hard it seems. 'The reason for the high number of civilian causalities in Gaza is because Hamas uses them as human shields.' It's not suprising to see an ex-Provo killer like Anthony McIntyre condemn Israel's legitimate self-defence and fight against terrorists. Furthermore, he ignores the fact that the reason for the high number of civilian casualities in Gaza is because Hamas uses them as human shields, not because of deliberate targeting by the IDF. In fact, there would be no dead civilians in Gaza at all if Hamas hadn't been firing rockets at towns in southern Israel. Any logically consistent person knows that Israel is right.

PS. Incidentally, since you now believe that the IRA's armed struggle was futile, isn't it about time, Mr. McIntrye, that you also admit that it was illegal and immoral? Isn't it about time you apologised?

I understand the anger people feel, but protesting outside synagogues would not only be plain wrong but would be a propaganda gift to the Israeli government and their media gofers.

We should never lose sight of the fact than many many Jews oppose this war on Gaza, ten thousand marched against it in Tel a viv and there were many jews on last saturdays demos in London, Istanbul and elsewhere.

Anonymous, I think the point is to differentiate between Jewish culture and Israeli aggression. I don't believe picketing outside a synagogue would do that. I can think of lots of reasons to protest outside synagogues; also outside chapels, churches and mosques. But none of them to do with Israeli policy in Gaza. Besides it might reinforce anti-Semitism which is not what you are about.

AM, I agree, protesting at synagogues does 'echo Harryville but, women and their children are being murdered, this is also not a new issue, the occupation of Palastine has gone on for decades with, as others have said, echoes of Germany. What I suggested was that we, as an occupied people, might show our empathy with the people of Gaza, I would not for a moment promote any aggression towards people attending synagogue but it might get the message through, as might my earlier suggestion of boycotting zionist retailers, M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury and Starbucks. To Tzipi Livnil I say bullshit. The Israelis are refusing to let doctors and other medical personal into Gaza to help the injured and dying. That according to a Swedish doctor on the ground in Gaza. One of only two foreign doctors who where already there.
